【Abstract】In order to promote the steady development of the BRI construction and promote the comprehensive implementation of the basic project of the people-to-people bond, strengthen the sports exchanges among the BRI countries, and enhance the competitive sports level of the relevant countries and the development level of sports events, this study proposes the idea of building the mechanism of sports exchanges among the BRI countries. It aims at building a new platform for cultural exchanges through sports and building a new window to enhance mutual understanding between the people of the BRI countries. This paper takes the literature review, mathematical statistics, and logical analysis as the research methods with a total of 122 countries that have signed the BRI-related documents with China as the research objects. By analyzing the important role and significance of the BRI construction in sports exchanges, the competitive sports development of the BRI countries and the competition results in international sports competitions, this paper puts forward the practical path, restrictive factors, and countermeasures for building the mechanism of sports exchanges among the BRI countries. The study found that the overall level of competitive sports development in BRI countries is not high, and the disparity is more serious. Except for a few countries such as China, Russia, and the ROK, the level of competitive sports in most countries is low. Most of the BRI countries are developing countries, and their development of competitive sports are obviously marginalized. The BRI countries cover five continents all over the world, and their sports events are developing slowly, but the development prospects are broad. Therefore, in building the mechanism of sports exchanges among the BRI countries, China should comprehensively build the mechanism and basic framework, learn from precedents and advanced experience, integrate with the systematic project of the people-to-people bond, and work together with other cultural exchange platforms for collaborative development.
