A relatively popular interpretation among scholars on Wittgenstein’s religious views in the later period is that he construes religion as a closed language-game that cannot be criticized from the outside. However, according to the definition of language-game, whether religion can be treated as a special language-game is a problem worthy of discussion. Through analyzing Wittgenstein’s religious views in the later period, we can find that this viewpoint has certain connection with logical positivists’ rejection of metaphysics. Meanwhile, Wittgenstein’s criticism on Frazer’s religious views is also worth of reevaluation. Moreover, Wittgenstein’s religious views in the later period represented by considering religion as an expression of feelings fail to go one step further on the basis of relevant viewpoints held by the positivists.
